I am a very sincere dance student who started learning at a young age and then stopped for almost 15 years. I restarted at age 26 and now I have been learning for 3 years. I am also a physician in training. My passion however is Bharathanatyam. I haven't done my arengetram yet but hope to do so in 2 years time. My question is what does it take to be a performing artist. I eventually would like to practise medicine part-time and devote the rest of my energy and efforts towards dance. Having started training at somewhat of a later age, I tend to see more limitations than potential...i.e. in terms of time, money and stamina. My dream however is to get to a point whereby I can choreograph my own pieces and be a full-time performing artist. Any insights ?
