as for me, iam going to various organizations and people, to conduct workshops,to spread awareness. i think its more a matter of age, when u r young, u r not really interested in performing pujas etc, when u grow old u realise the value of it. i think, to make classical arts( i personally feel bharatanatyam is better off than more lasya based forms like manipuri) to first identify the target audiance. here, i use the method of flying kites, u first give a lot of thread and then pull tight. likewise, show and present the target audiance with what they demand and like. look for opportunities where u can experiment with and present more lentghty and lasya based items( thats what i did in a recent program, one kauthuvam, then a slow padam, was not a paid show, so could present what i preferred).try to hold as many workshops as possible, create awareness about various advantages of arts. internet has loads of information. the mentally challenged girl performing can be an excellent example, which people abroad easily buy. expose ur self and let u r name be everywhere- every good where. this is the point when people approach you and u can demand money.
now, this takes a lot of hardwork and toil, but i think the results are assured.also, i'd like a research to be run on the internet about any art form that was close to extinction and how it was revived?
i'd still like to get people rid of the popular misconception that if boys learn classical dance, their mannerisms change queer.
