That was quite a Review-- Anita! There was so much to read and react. I guess you already know that its been a hot topic of discussion amongst a lot of artistes. It is very difficult to generalise a view in a very specific and relative manner for an art-form esp. like Bharatanatyam. Your article covered a gamut of aspects-- of different styles(banis), artistes, critics,availability of spaces to dance... While I am not ready to enter into a controversy regarding your views I like to acknowledge that it did address personal queries. For long now Ive been beset with a lot of questions-- whether to conform-- are innovations within bhani necessary-- whether to go along with what is in vogue now or to stick to the traditional style of presentation and ones bani-- which personally gives me a lot of ananda. Your comments actually helped me resolve the myriad of questions and confusions in my mind. Thanks Anita-- its given me a conviction to perform as we do always-- And this certainly doesnt preclude any innovations or openness.
