Antara Kak, daughter of Siddarth Kak has made a 55-minute documentary called A LIFE IN DANCE - DAKSHA SHETH that won her the ADPA Trophy at the 7th Mumbai International Film Festival.
Bharatanatyam guru Udipi Lakshminarayanan presents a tribute to his guru Kanchipuram Elappa Mudaliar every year. His first serious stage appearance was as a member of the dance group of Bhaskar Roy Chowdhury who was also a disciple of Elappa.
Koodiyattam drama Naganandam had never been staged since 1957. A V Narayanan helped to revive it in 2001 at Trissur in Kerala and has also made a documentary on it. The mediaeval King Sri Harsha wrote this 7th century drama, based on a Buddhist legend. Meaning 'Joy of the Serpents', it recounts how Prince Jimutavahana gave up his own body to stop the sacrifice of serpents to Garuda.
