Gunagrahi celebrates 10th anniversary

On the decennial celebrations of Gunagrahi, an international journal on music and dance, eleven artistes from the field of music and dance - Shyamala Bhave (internationally acclaimed musician), T S Vasantha Madhavi (Carnatic vocalist), R Padmanabha, (Carnatic vocalist and organizer), Vasundhara Doraswamy (Bharatanatyam and Yoga exponent, Mysore), Shubha Dhananjay (Bharatanatyam), Nandini Mehta and Murali Mohan (Kathak duo), Chethana Radhakrishna (dancer-choreographer, Mandya), Prof. K Ramamurthy Rao (art critic, dancer and organiser), A S Venkatesh (patron of music) and B Nagabhushan (patron) and Uma Nagabhushan (versatile vocalist) of Dombivli, Mumbai, were felicitated with 'Guna Nidhi Awards.'

Sri Ganapathi Sachchidananda Swamiji, head of Sri Avadhoota Datta Peetham, Mysore, felicitated the artistes and said that selected emeralds in various arts were given recognition through Gunagrahi. 
  
Executive director of Bharathiya Vidya Bhavan, Dr Mattur Krishnamurthy and Sachchidananda Swamiji released the decennial special journal of Gunagrahi.

Mattur Krishnamurthy lauded the editor of journal Dr M Surya Prasad saying, "Surya has brought out the edition successfully every year, just as the name itself indicates Gunagrahi -legendary bird."  
  
Bharatanatyam exponent Prathibha Prahlad was also present.  
  
Gunagrahi's DASHAMAANOTSAVA concluded with a Hindusthani vocal recital by Vageesh Bhat, a dance drama on 'Rani Shanthala' by Shwethe Nagaraj Harsha (concept and direction by V Nagaraj of Sri Vivekananda Kala Kendra) and a Bharatanatyam presentation by Kripa Shah, Suhahisini Krishnamurthy, L S Prakrithi and Lavanya Vijayakumar.
