Dr. Liesbeth Pankaja Bennink

Liesbeth Pankaja was a dancer and historian based in Amsterdam, the Netherlands. She considered herself a spiritual seeker, fascinated with India and its rich heritage from a very young age. She studied ballet in the Netherlands for many years but later on started learning Bharatanatyam from her guru, Rajamani, who was a prime disciple of Tanjavur K.P. Kittappa Pillai. Her dance brought Liesbeth to Chidambaram where she lived for many years researching the history, theology and art of the Chidambaram Nataraja Temple, guided by her guru, late Raja Deekshithar. Liesbeth has devoted her life to revealing, researching and teaching the amazing Indian heritage. In her later years, she was a much sought after lecturer, especially on the history of the Chidambaram temple.
