Bharatanatyam Guru K.P. Kittappa Pillai was initially trained as a
vocalist by his father T.K. Ponniah Pillai. Early in his career, he was
known more as a vocalist and gave vocal concerts with his cousin,
Narayanaswamy and became quite popular as the “Singing Twins.” As a
direct disciple of his maternal grandfather Pandanallur
Meenakshisundaram Pillai, Kittappa Pillai then established himself as a
versatile nattuvanar for the major part of his career. |
