When the Shawns visited Mahabalipuram, Ted
was inspired to compose the Dance of Siva, on cosmic dancer Nataraja,
for which he got a huge brass ring of Shiva’s fire made in metal by a
Calcutta foundry, at centre of which he stood himself and danced as
Shiva Nataraja! (‘Foreign hand in our moves’ by Ashish Mohan Khokar) |
When he was 24, Pattikkamthodi Ravunni Menon was given the title ‘Menon' (a practice then prevailing in Kerala as a token of permanent recognition) by the Kottakkal royal family when he was there for a performance. |
Kuyilthodi Ittiraricha Menon (1828-1903) was known as the apostle of Kalluvazhi tradition of Kathakali. |
