The epic Silappadikaram provides the legendary origin of
dancing involving Urvashi and Jayanta, the son of Indra. This describes
the worship of talaikkol, which may be equivalent to the jarjara
worship of the Natya Shastra. |
The literature of Koodiyattam consists of Kramadipika (Production
Manuals), Attaprakaram (Acting Manuals), Nirvahana Sloka (Quatrains
describing the anecdote concerned), Vidushaka Sloka (Quatrains followed
by the jester), Tala Prasaranam (Rhythm Pattern) and various other
topics. (‘Conservation and content of Koodiyattam scripts’ by G Venu, Nartanam, Aug-Oct 2007) |
