Radhika Santwanam (Appeasing Radhika) written by devadasi Muddupalani, a courtesan attached to the court of Pratapasimha, one of the Nayaka kings of Thanjavur, was banned for its erotic content.

Muddupalani, who lived between 1730 and 1790, was the granddaughter of the court dancer Tanjanayaki and the daughter of another talented courtesan Rama Vadhuti.
