Indira Kala Sangit Vishwavidyalaya is Asia's First University which is dedicated to various forms of Arts. It is currently situated in Chhattisgarh State, the central part of India.



Indira Kala Sangit Vishwavidyalaya (IKSVV) was established on October 14, 1956 under the Act XIX of 1956 of the Government of Madhya Pradesh. First of its kind in the Asian continent, a university solely dedicated to music and various art forms. Any student or scholar from any part of the world can come and stay in the University campus for study and research. The university has a valuable collection on Classical Music, Dance and Visual Arts with more than 44,000 books and about 2000 back volumes of important research journals. The University is building up on the very strong base of its renowned resources in the field of music, dance and other various forms of arts.

Faculty of Dance consists of: Dept of Kathak, Dept of Bharatanatyam & Dept of Odissi dance form. The University's Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Mandvi Singh is also a renowned artist in Kathak dance form.
