There are many dance schools in India and outside India who follow this approach of presenting a student with very little exposure on stage during the anniversary programs. In Vancouver, I recently attended one anniversary program of a dance school where kids with few hours of training were presenting one item. Though it is not fair to comment about the quality of their dance, it was appaling to note that none of them were wearing "Chilanga" on stage. May be the teacher must be aware that the audience will make out the lack of proper footwork if they were wearing "chilanga" and decided that they should not wear it?
Traditionally, all dancers performing for the first time on stage will be given "Chilanga" but these days it may be forgotten! Teachers want to keep the parents happy and give all the kids an opportunity for retaining their business. This is a good public relation
