What an interesting topic you opened. I think a so called warming up
depends on the location of the dancer. Maybe in India in a friendly warm
climate a warming up is not really necessary, maybe some dancers consider
Aparippu as such.
But i think in colder climates, or with untrained dancers, there might
be more effort put in it. For example when you read the course guidelines
of the ISTD in the UK, in the Bharatanatyam syllabus, you will see that
they have included quite a lot of information abou the warming up. For
example sitting in mullumandi and jumping in this position, it also enhances
the aramandi.
As for myself, I think a warming up is really important but in class
we have no special exercises for it. Most of the time nattu adadu is considered
as a warming up.
