generally it is very difficult to judge a dance contest if the contestants are more-or-less on the same level (plus or minus 10%). well, most judges are not even aware of what criteria they are judging by! :-)
sometimes, even when the difference is OBVIOUS, some unscrupulous judges
may reveal their political/business/caste/school affiliations, like for
example it happened at the latest papanasam shivan competition held in
narada gana sabha (chennai), where the first prize winner in the junior
category was CLEARLY far worse than the second prize winner.
