As a parent of a Bharatanatyam dancer, I would like to bring to everyone's notice the problem with dealing with overpriced musicians. Almost 50% of the cost of conducting an arangetram goes towards paying the musicians. To add insult to injury, a certain percentage of what the parents pay the musicians is being kicked back to the teachers by the musicians. In any business, such a happening would be considered as an unethical practice. The only losers in this are the parents.

I do not blame parents for increasingly wanting to resort to the use of recorded music for their childrens' arangetrams
