I do not know too much about the history of the dance. I was under the impression that Sadir declined because it was linked to prostitution and the orthodox families did not allow their daughters to learn the dance. Let me know if I am wrong.
Strictly IMHO, no dvd's is fine. There is too much commercilization anyway.
