My understanding of "vague terms like "a leading dancer":
"a leading Bharatanatyam dancer" - the dancer who gathers the largest number of spectators in the December season in Chennai
I agree that "a leading critic" is rather a nonsensical notion. But I like Nandini Ramani. Her observations are very detailed and matter-of-fact.
