Thila,
I really admire your determination and game plan. I think you're idea
of focusing on smaller goals while simultaneously remaining cognizant of
the 'bigger picture' will help you to get where you want. Be honest and
sincere in your practice (as you seem to intend) and I'm sure you'll get
far in your dancing... the sky is the limit if the discipline and talent
is there.
My advice to you (from my own personal experience): focus on YOURSELF
and your Guru's advice only. Needlessly comparing yourself with other performers
and counterparts of merit can create feelings of inadequacy and artistic
low self-esteem. Others may do very well and it is nice to be in awe of
their art and learn from them-- in fact, credit should be given where it
is rightfully do and we must acknowledge the great work other artists are
involved in. But the key to this crucial period is focusing on YOU: you
are your own priority now... use the time constructively.
We're all here for you.... after all, what good is a discussion forum
like this if it does not help to serve as a platform for creative support
and advice to others!
Keep us posted...
With positive vibes,
Vinod II
