Jai Govinda: Retirement, Book and AwardNovember 23, 2025 Mandala Arts and Culture, Vancouver, celebrated Jai Govinda's retirement at a gala event held on Nov 2, 2025. Aside from thanking two long time board members, P. Rathanaswami and V. Gunja, Mandala officially launched the book 'Simply Bharata Natyam' by Jai Govinda. Amongst honoured guests such as Dr. Mandakranta Bose, Kamal Sharma and executive director of The Dance Centre, Mirna Zagar, Jai Govinda presented a copy of his book to the Consul General of India, Mr. Masauki Rungsung. The event was attended by past and present students of Mandala, as well as present and past board members, families and friends. A surprise birthday celebration also acknowledged Jai Govinda's 70th birthday (Nov 4). On November 7, Mr. Kamal Sharma of KVP entertainment, held a special dinner gala celebrating the proclamation by the province of British Columbia, declaring November as the month of Hinduism. For the occasion, Jai Govinda was invited to present his book "Simply Bharata Natyam" to BC 's premier, honourable Mr David Eby, and Kiruthika Rathanaswami did a Bharatanatyam presentation. Finally on November 14, Jai Govinda received the 'Drishti Award' for innovation in the Arts at the 11th Drishti gala event also honouring other awardees in the fields of medicine, philanthropy, sports, entrepreneurship etc. It was the first time that the Drishti Award was given to dance.
