As part of the World Dance Day celebrations on 29th April,
Santosh Nair’s Sadhya in association with India Habitat Centre
presented an extravaganza of traditional, classical and
contemporary dance styles with over 100 dancers.
The venue for the performance was the The Plaza Steps at the
India Habitat Center, Delhi. As the steps cascade down, they are
lined with bushes and trees. They present different platforms at
different levels to perform on, giving the artistes the
advantage of stages.
Santosh Nair began his journey as a Kathakali dancer under the
guidance of his father Kalamandalam Padmanabhan in the year
1986. He is also trained in Mayurbhanj Chhau under Guru Janmejoy
Saibabu and in contemporary dance under Narendra Sharma of
Bhoomika Creative Dance Center. In 1998 he started his own
company Sadhya - a unit of performing arts which rests on the
philosophy of tradition and innovation. It has now established
itself as one of the leading contemporary Indian dance companies
of the country.
