Milap, UK, launches MilapSpace:
A Global Online Platform for deeper, nuanced learning in Indian Arts
August 9, 2025
MILAP, one of the UK's leading Indian arts organisations, announces the
launch of MilapSpace, an online learning platform dedicated to Indian
arts for learners, seekers, and practitioners across the globe. Drawing
on 40 years of experience in nurturing artistic talent through
festivals, concerts, education programs, and international
collaborations, MilapSpace is a natural evolution of Milap's mission: to
make Indian arts more accessible, continuous, and deeply engaging.
A new home for lifelong learning in Indian Arts
MilapSpace provides a structured, high-quality, and accessible
environment for learning Indian arts. Unlike one-off workshops with
intermittent access to masters of Indian arts, the platform offers
comprehensive, continuous training for learners at various stages of
their journey. Through curated and thoughtfully designed courses,
MilapSpace enables deeper engagement and cultural context-making serious
learning possible from anywhere in the world.
Why now? Meeting a long-standing need
For centuries, Indian arts have flourished within the guru-shishya
tradition. Today, while virtual classes have eased geographical
barriers, one challenge remains: access to the deep, nuanced knowledge
that legends and world-renowned masters in Indian arts typically share
only in rare, immersive settings. Much of this wisdom is still subject
to gatekeeping and limited‐run master classes and workshops that are
held once or twice a year.
MilapSpace addresses this gap by bringing together leading performers,
scholars, and educators who openly share the subtle artistry, context,
and lived experience that rarely reach the public domain. By doing so,
the platform dismantles barriers, broadens perspectives, and fosters an
inclusive global community of practice.
Expert-led. Artist-centred. Rooted in tradition
MilapSpace's course content has been curated with a shared commitment to
excellence and integrity in pedagogy. Each course is designed and led
by seasoned artists who are both celebrated performers and experienced
teachers in their own right.
The inaugural lineup includes: Neyveli Santhanagopalan, Bragha Bessel,
Patri Satish Kumar, Rajkumar Bharathi, Lalgudi Vijayalakshmi, Sujata
Mohapatra, Anil Srinivasan, Kousic Sen, Rajendra Gangani, Dr Rajeeb
Chakraborty, Debapriya Adhikary, Samanwaya Sarkar, Murad Ali Khan,
Sikkil Gurucharan, Dr Ranajit Sengupta, Girishh Gopalakrishnan, Sumesh
Narayan, Ramshanker S. Additional courses and faculty will be announced
every month.
