Ace Kathak sisters of Delhi, Nalini-Kamalini, had a successful trip to Cambodia and Vietnam in December 2022 with their group of seven artistes. They represented core Indian culture in the best possible way and through their outstanding performance depicted dance choreography Tarana at Techo Terrace near Sokha Beach Hotel in Preah Sihanouk and next day at Techo in Preah City. It was witnessed by the Prime Minister of the kingdom of Cambodia, Mr. Hue Sen, ministers and other dignitaries. This itself was a high honour accorded to them.
Ode to nature and Braj ki holi was appreciated by the P.M. They all enjoyed holi being played with colorful flowers. The Indian Ambassador was happy and proud and she conveyed her thanks to ICCR's president Dr. Vinay Sahasrabuddhe for sending such a wholesome group of artistes. The Ambassador also claimed that out of various countries, Indian art and artistes were applauded the most.
From Cambodia, the sisters with group left for Vietnam and on 12/12/22 (a rare date), Nalini –Kamalini presented lecture-cum-demonstration in Ho Chi Minh City (HCMC). It was a unique experience for the aspiring youth and the 2 hour demonstration was applauded by a jam-packed auditorium. Most of the students wanted more workshops and showed keen interest when they learnt about the magic of Kathak dance and Nalini-Kamalini's research on relation of dance with yoga and therapeutic value of dance.
The next day, again a 90 minute compact concert at HCMC University was much appreciated by the student community and on 14th December, the group performed at Ba Ria Vung Tau Province. They were so popular by then that due to the earlier two concerts, the audience moved from city to city to watch the Indian dance again. The program was graced by M. Madan Mohan Sethi and other politicians and mayor of the province. Sending such artistes do India proud and help foster best cultural relations.
