Graceful recital November 23, 2015 Srinithiy Gurunath, senior disciple of J. Suryanarayanamurthy, performed a very graceful recital under the auspices of Kartik Fine Arts at Narada Gana Sabha (Mini Hall) on 14th November 2015. Srinithiy was a picture of grace and elegance and the entire recital gave ample proof of her maturity and hard work. Srinithiy commenced her recital with Natyanjali in ragamalika and thalamalika followed by the alarippu in the traditional style. The next item was the main piece, Varnam in ragam Kalyani “Gokulashtami Bala Gopika Lola” which Srinithiy performed with absolute ease and poise. Execution of jathis was immaculate and Guru Suryanarayanamurthy on the cymbals was a picture of perfection. The sancharis commencing from the birth of Krishna, Govardhana Giri, Kuchela episode, up to Geetha upadesam were convincingly portrayed by Srinithiy and elicited repeated applause from the audience. The post-interval session was very interesting with “Idai meedhu bhavani vandhaar” on Lord Shiva which was replete with bakthi, and Srinithiy performed the item well. The last piece was a padam “Dhari choochuchunnadhi” in ragam Shankarabharanam, where the heroine’s friend conveys to Krishna that the heroine is waiting for Him. The abhinaya for this piece was outstanding. The fitting finale was the Kunthalavarali Thillana of Dr. Balamuralikrishna. Roshini Ganesh on vocal was mellifluous, Ganesh on the percussion was effective, Chittoor Vijayaraghavan on violin was pleasing and Guru Suryanarayanamurthy on cymbals was very convincing. Srinithiy's performance, on the whole, was a picture of elegance and grace with a fabulous stage presence. |
