Poem

I can watch you dance forever
- Ashley

January 22, 2013

(This is a poetic response to a Bharatanatyam program by Rama Vaidyanathan last October)

I want to wear adavus like accessories,
Mudras swift as a breeze,
Ever changing expressions like that of waves,

I love how you bring endless serenades,
Flowers, bells, and other finery,
Tapping, patting, tickling,
And blessing… me

What more could I ask for?
You embrace me lovingly,
I can watch you… forever,

I am the very ground you dance on,
Temple after temple,
And
Stage after stage,

From namaskar to mangalam,
I can watch you dance,
Forever.

Ashley is a student of Bharatanatyam. She loves writing poetry and learning dance.
