Utkal Divas Samaroha at Goa

SJSKM (Shree Jagannath Sangeet Kala Mahavidyalay) Puri, presented group Odissi and Odia folk dance by Guru Gajendra Panda and his senior disciples at Hridayanath Mangeshkar Kala Academy Amphitheatre, Goa, for the celebration of Utkal Divas (Odisha Day) on 1st April 2012, sponsored by Department of Culture, Govt of Odisha and led by Guru Satrughna Nayak. This celebration was inaugurated by the Hon’ble Chief Minister of Goa, Manohara Parikar. 

Senior artistes of All Goa Odia Association presented the inaugural song “Bande Utkala janani”, the state song of Odisha. Guru Gajendra Panda and his senior dancers Sriyasiti Acharya, Barsha Priyadarshini, G Nageswari, Dipika Priyadarshini, Chisato Miura (Japan), Priyanka Mishra and Prabhutosh Panda presented Siva Tandav, Sthai Nrutya, and Odissi dance drama Krishnaya Tubhyam Namah, a masterpiece of group choreography depicting the ten incarnations of Lord Krishna, on this auspicious occasion.
 

 

Siva Tandav is an invocatory dance with verse and Sabdaswara Patta dedicated to Lord Siva, from whose matted locks flows the celestial river Ganga. Sthai Nrutya is pure dance and shows sculpturesque poses as seen in the temples - veenakara, mardala, alasa, darpana, natabara, abhimana taken from Shila Sastra (the treatise on temple building and architecture) which instructs the sculptor on the aesthetics of correct postures. Guru Debaprasad Das has interpreted the Sabdaswara Patta with typical ukutas of Odia tradition in Sthai Nrutya. The dancers also presented Dalakhai and Nachanian, the colourful folk dances of Odisha. The program was conducted by Guru Satrughna Nayak (Founder of SJSKM). The credits include: Dance composed by gurus Debaprasad Das and Gajendra Kumar Panda, music by Gopal Ch Panda and Ramahari Das, ukuta by Banamali Moharana and Dhaneswar Swain.

All Goa Odia Association organized this special event to promote and publicize Odia culture outside Odisha by organizing many events and competitions on this day.
