Release of Bala Devi Chandrashekar's DVD Nandanar Charithram

Bala Devi Chandrashekar's DVD Nandanar Charithram was released by London based cultural foundation Gnanalaya on the 22nd March 2011 at the prestigious Winston Churchill Hall, London. The launch was attended by a full house audience, who were spell bound by Bala Devi's natyam that embellished the release function. The release was attended by many VIPs from London and also gracing the occasion from India was classical vocalist Sanjay Subramanian.

Bala's captivating depiction of Nandanar's earnest desire to see the Lord in the song "Vazhi maraikudhu" was received with thunderous ovation by the knowledgeable rasikas of London. Her spiritual and moving depiction in "Varughalamo" got the audience into an emotional bind.
The riveting performance was followed by the DVD release function. The first copy was released by mridangam maestro Karaikudi Krishnamurthy and received by Dr Nithyananthan, Chairman of the Ratnam foundation. This was followed by the presentation of the DVD to several other dignitaries and well known Bharatanatyam gurus based in the London area.

The program left a lasting impact in the minds of the ardent rasikas who eagerly await the return of Bala Devi in the month of December.
