Aeka Academy formed
by Aparna Raghavan, once again organized an interesting evening on Jan
22, 2010. Aeka formed in India and Geneva continues to provide the cultural
crowd of Geneva, some interesting and fascinating performances. This time
they showcased Ghoomar and Kalbeliya – both folk dances of Rajasthan danced
by Maya. Maya, Swiss by origin, announced that she has been learning this
art form directly from the gypsies in Rajasthan. This was followed by a
scintillating Kathak performance by Anjali. Anjali is a student of both
Bharatanatyam and Kathak. She has been learning Kathak for past 5 years.
She enchanted the crowd with a Guru Vandana followed by thoras and Ghatnikas
and finished with a Ganapati/Shiva Vandana.
The second
part of the program was consecrated to a music group from Geneva – Pink4tet
where they sang Tangos from Argentina and Fado, originated from Portugal.
The Cultural Delegate representing the Lancy part of Geneva, congratulated
Aeka Academy for providing a wonderful treat of art and culture to the
people of Lancy. She was very impressed with the diversified program suiting
all audiences.
This was the
3rd program organized by Aeka Academy which is giving the Geneva locals
