Centre was a grand occasion for dance lovers of Delhi, when the 11th year
issue of 'attendance' was released by Dr. Karan Singh, noted educationist
- scholar, also President ICCR and Auroville. Iconic film-maker Shyam Benegal
received the first copy.

Singh, Chair, APPAN and noted critic introduced the editor-publisher Ashish
Mohan Khokar while Omcherri Pillai, President Kathakali Centre spoke on
Guru Gopinath, who is on the cover of attendance and whose birth centenary
was being celebrated. Veteran choreographers Valmiki Banerji and Yog Sunder
were present as were Raja Reddy, Rama Vaidyanathan, Kavita Behera, Pratibha
Prahlad, Ambika Paniker, Lada Guruden Singh, Papiha Desai and Vani Madhav.

Dr. Kapila Vatsyayan
attended the event quietly and rare archival films on Guru Gopinath were
shown, courtesy his daughter / disciple Vasanthi Jayaswal, settled in Los
Angeles. Guru Gopinath's IAS daughter Vilasini Ramachandran now posted
in Delhi, received a special copy from Dr Karan Singh. The evening saw
the Kerala Film Club's Radhakrishnan conduct the proceedings and Delhi
Doordarshan covered the event in full. |
