Festival at Thiruvarur

The Thiruvarur
Thyagaraja temple is one of the oldest Siva kshetra in Tamilnadu and especially
attributed to "Naatya seva." This year, the 12th Natyanjali Festival
was inaugurated by Bharatanatyam guru VP Dhananjayan, presided by Collector
M Chandrasekar, IAS. Director, South Zone Cultural Centre, Muthu Kumar
and art critic Nandini Ramani were guests of honour.
The inaugural
performance was by the Bharatakalanjali students, disciples of the Dhananjayans.
This year, Guru Dhananjayan performed an item along with his students.
Archana, Jyotsna and Divya Devaguptapu came all the way from California
to participate in this festival that was well attended by the nearby villages.
The artistes who
performed in this five day festival include Zakir Hussain, Meera Nandha,
Nandhini Goshal and disciples of Anita Guha. The entire festival is being
sponsored by MR & Sons and everyone lauded the efforts and generous
contribution made by this company that is promoting art and culture in
this temple for several years.
