Cultural Evening of Telugu Association of London (TAL)

December 18, 2007

Telugu Association of London conducted Deepawali celebrations at Lampton School in Hounslow on the evening of November 3, 2007.

Popular songs by renowned artiste from India Dr. Dwaram Lakshmi enthralled the audience and received many accolades, which was followed by a fashion show by kids. Talented M Narasingamurthy entertained the audience with his mimicry both during the first and post-dinner sessions of the evening.

Ragasudha Vinjamuri presented her dance rendition with the opening item Paluke Bangaaramayena, the ever popular Ramadasa Keertana in Ananda Bhairavi Raga, where Bhakta Ramadasa praises Lord Rama for His attributes and pleads with Him to be kind and grant him darshan. This was followed by Annamacharya's Vinnapalu Vinavaley in Bhoopala Raga in which Lord Venkateswara is requested to come out of the net of Adi Sesha's hood, open His lotus eyes and look at innumerable devotees rowed at His feet with their appeals. The next item Gandhamu Poosey veley in Kanada Raga is a lyrically rich composition on Goddess Alamelu Manga in which Annamayya narrates the magnificent beauty of Mother Goddess, how lotuses are less beautiful than her graceful eyes, how less brilliant precious gold is than her radiance and how less aromatic scented sandalwood is than her fragrance.

A memento was presented to Ragasudha by Avadhana Brahma Dr Medasani Mohan, Director for Annamacharya project - Tirumala Tirupathi Devasthanam and asthana pandit of Ahobila Mutt. Famous for his Apoorva Pancha Sahasra Avadhanam, he added glory to the evening later by spearheading the Hasyavadhanam. The musical band Rainbow Raga played popular film songs and the evening concluded with a colorful fireworks display.
