PREVIEWSri Rajarajeshwari Kalaniketan presents Samanvay Arts Festival Chowdiah Memorial Hall, 5.30pm September 19, 2026 Bangalore August 29, 2026 Sri Raja Rajeshwari Kalaniketan, founded in Bengaluru in 1976 by Dr Veena Murthy Vijay, completes fifty years in 2026. The institution has trained five generations of dancers and today runs an academic arm, the Samanvay Foundation of Arts, offering a three-year BFA and two-year diploma. The golden jubilee is marked by the Samanvay Arts Festival on 19 September 2026 at Chowdiah Memorial Hall, Bengaluru - a day that opens at 9.30 am with the Adavu Jam and runs to 1 pm, then resumes at 5.30 pm with an award ceremony and a double bill of two full productions. SATYABHAMA at 6.15 pm, is a continuous production of some seventy-five minutes on a single premise: one heroine read successively in four classical vocabularies. Lakshmi Gopalaswamy opens in Bharatanatyam, Vidha Lal follows in Kathak of the Jaipur gharana, Gopika Varma in Mohiniyattam, and Dr Veena Murthy Vijay closes in Kuchipudi - the form through which, in Bama Kalapam , Satyabhama has traditionally been claimed. Mysore B. Nagaraj is Sutradhar and narrates in English. Four forms, four dancers and a Sutradhar. The awards, presented at 5.30 pm open the evening. The Honored Guests are the Carnatic vocalist Prof. Dr G.N. Nagamani Srinath; Nandini Ramani of the Sangeet Natak Akademi’s executive board; Nirupama Rajendra of Abhinava Dance Company; and Shatavadhani Dr R.Ganesh, Padma Bhushan 2026.
