 Natya Dance Theatre premieres Sharira / Shariri - Held Within The Dance Center of Columbia College March 19 – 21, 2026 Chicago, IL February 19, 2026 The Dance Center of Columbia College Chicago presents Natya Dance Theatre as it continues to celebrate its 50th Anniversary, with a world Premiere. SHARIRA / SHARIRI - HELD WITHIN  Choreographed by Hema Rajagopalan, the work is inspired by Saint Ramanuja's philosophy which expresses the idea that all beings are interconnected and dependent on a larger divine force. Using the classical Indian dance theater form, Bharatanatyam with contemporary sensibilities, the work follows the journey of a river flowing towards the ocean - a reflection in ego, control, surrender and connection.
