 Melattur Bhagavata Mela Natya Nataka Sangam presents 85th Bhagavata Mela Nataka Mahotsav May 10 - 19, 2025 Melattur February 10, 2025 On the auspicious occasion of Sri Narasimha Jayanti Vasantotsav, Melattur Bhagavata Mela Natya Nataka Sangam presents Bhagavata Mela Nataka Mahotsav 2025. It is the landmark 85th edition of the festival. The Bhagavata Mela Natakams composed in chaste Telugu by Melattur Venkatarama Sastry (1743-1809) are performed annually in adherence to Natya Veda in the sannidhi of Lord Varadaraja Perumal in Melattur village as part of Sri Narasimha Jayanti Vasantotsav. The Bhagavata Mela tradition is a rare temple / theater art in a unique blend of bhakti, music, dance and drama in vogue over 5 centuries. It is the only surviving link today in Tamilnadu that connects us with ancient Sanskrit theater.
