Krishna Gana Sabha presents 42nd Natya Kala Conference December 26 - 29, 2024 Chennai Convenors: Nirupama & Rajendra November 15, 2024 The year's Natya Kala Conference (NKC 2024) titled ABHIJĀTA conceived by Krishna Gana Sabha and curated by Bharatanrtyam & Kathak artistes Nirupama & Rajendra, will be held from December 26 to December 29, 2024 at the Krishna Gana Sabha premises, Chennai. The Creative Collaborator of NKC is Aalaap. The four-day Conference will host about 22 sessions, 3 workshops, panel discussions and presentations. Tickets for the Conference are priced at Rs 1700 and are available for purchase at tikkl.com About Natya Kala Conference Natya Kala Conference (NKC) was conceived by Krishna Gana Sabha way back in 1981 with an intent to allow dancers of a certain class and caliber (those who were conferred the title of Nrithya Choodamani), to share their knowledge, insights and understanding of dance and its world at large with a group of like-minded people under the umbrella of a five-day conference. NKC unfolds every year and has attained a landmark status of sorts and brings into its fold, dancers and dance enthusiasts, scholars, rasikas, writers, commentators, and scholars to converge and deliberate upon dance and the many aspects that pertain to it and are of crucial importance. NKC is a marquee property of Krishna Gana Sabha and this year, NKC forays into its 42nd edition. About the Convenors - Nirupama & Rajendra Nirupama & Rajendra are India's foremost dance exponents who have been incessantly working in the field of dance for over 34 years as dancers, choreographers, teachers, producers and organizers. They are the recipients of several prestigious awards such as "Sangeet Natak Akademi Pursakaar" from Central Sangeet Natak Akademi given by the honourable President of India, "Nrithya Choodamani" from Krishna Gana Sabha, "Karnataka Kalashree" from the Karnataka Sangeetha Nritya Academy, Government of Karnataka and several other awards and recognition from reputed Indian and foreign organizations. A noteworthy contribution by Nirupama is the newly crafted 108 dance movements of aesthetics and functional value called Deshi Marga Adavus. Through Abhinava, the duo has revived Madanotsava - a community festival - to welcome the spring season which is a celebration of art, culture and literature.
