 Smitalay presents Sanjukta Panigrahi Mahotsav August 24 & 25, 2024 Mumbai July 20, 2024 Like every year, SMITALAY will present its SANJUKTA PANIGRAHI MAHOTSAV, celebrating the birthday of the queen of Odissi, Sanjukta Panigrahi. Every year the mahotsav is for young dancers, hence it's a Yuva Mahotsav. But this year is special. It is the celebration of her 80th birthday. It will not be a Yuva Mahotsav but will be something different and exciting. It will be a two day festival, showcasing four mother-daughter pairs of different styles and four duets in different classical styles. The mother-daughter pairs will perform together to show how the tradition of dance is passed from one generation to the next. In the duets, accomplished dancers will perform together to show the differences and similarities between their two dance forms.
