ANVESHANA: International Performing Arts Conference

ANVESHANA, the Biennial performing arts conference of the WUD School of
Performing Arts in Sonipat, is a pioneering international platform that
aims to reimagining the landscape of performing arts in India. This
conference is designed to create a dynamic intersection of tradition,
innovation, and technology; become a catalyst for transformative
conversations & creations; and foster a global dialogue that’ll help
shape the future of traditional dance forms.
ANVESHANA seeks to explore the synergy between traditional dance forms
and cutting-edge innovations in the realm of performing arts. By
fostering collaborations between artists and technologists, the
conference will aim to push the boundaries of creativity while
preserving the essence of cultural heritage. ANVESHANA will celebrate
linguistic diversity by encouraging performances, discussions, and
presentations in various languages from around the world, contributing
to a global dialogue. ANVESHANA will also explore how technology can be
seamlessly integrated into traditional dance forms, opening up new
possibilities for expression and engagement. It will seek to create a
space where artists and technologists can co-create, learn from each
other, and contribute to the evolution of performing arts. ANVESHANA
will serve as a platform for thought-provoking discussions, academic
presentations, and artistic expressions that contribute to the ongoing
dialogue between tradition and modernity within the Indian Knowledge
System. ANVESHANA is committed to envisioning a future for traditional
dance that is both rooted in heritage and forward-looking.
ANVESHANA is not merely a conference; ANVESHANA will bring artists,
technologists, choreographers, scholars, and enthusiasts to join this
unique exploration and contribute to a harmonious convergence of the
past, present, and future in the realm of performing arts.

Formats for Presentation
Individual Papers - 15 minutes (total time for presentation + discussion).
Performances - 20 minutes total time
(presentation- including any introductory comments and performance of a
newly created dance or dance excerpt for which the choreographer wishes
to obtain comments/feedback. This can be group/solo presentation +
Q&A/feedback from attendees or introduction of the performance.)
Submission Guidelines for Papers
Paper should be written in A4 size format, 12pts
Times New Roman font with for English OR 12pts Nirmala UI/Krutidev 010
font for Hindi.
Full paper word limit is 3500 words.
Please submit your abstract and paper through
anveshana.sopa@wud.ac.in (Remember to mention your institutional
affiliation, full name, and phone number in the body of the mail.)
We expect original works. Add in remarks, If assisted by AI.
PPTs are expected to be carried along for further
presentation of the paper during the time of the conference.
Presentations to be given should be 10 - 15 minutes in length which will
be followed by a Q & A session.
Submission Guidelines for Performance
Abstract word limit is 250–300-word, outlining the essence, theme, and objectives of the performance.
Solo, duet, or group (max 5 participants) performances are accepted.
Duration: Total performance time + Q&A, within 20 minutes.
Genre: Indian classical, folk, or experimental genres.
Only recorded music is allowed; live accompaniment is not permitted.
Important Dates, Deadlines and Fees
The registration fees cover costs for the presentation slot, networking tea, and publication fees (in the ISBN book)
Submission Deadline: Till 30th March 2024
Conveying Paper/Performance acceptance: 15th April 2024
Author Registration Deadline: 22nd April 2024
Conference: 9th – 10th May 2024
Review Process
All submissions are subject to peer review to ensure the quality and relevance of responses.
You will be informed accordingly if any editing is
required. The School of Performing Arts, WUD reserves all rights for
selection of the final submissions.
