Kartik Fine Arts presents 22nd Natya Darshan Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan Dec 15-17, 2023 Chennai November 20, 2023 The 22nd Natya Darshan Conference & performances, organized by Kartik Fine Arts, a leading cultural organisation and Sabha in Chennai which is celebrating its 49th Anniversary this year, is convened for the second time this year by Roja Kannan. The advisors for the conference are Prof. Sudharani Raghupathy & Chitra Visweswaran. The theme chosen for this year is 'Breaking New Grounds - The Diaspora Experience'. Natya Darshan brings to Chennai some of the most outstanding artistes from all over the world from California in the West to Malaysia in the East. There will be interesting lectures, overviews and panel discussions in the morning sessions on various topics and solo performances by international artistes and legends and also group ensemble performances. A unique performance of Kandyan Dance (from Srilanka) and Nritta Karanas by Shamitha Hettige & Vithya Arasu is a pre event on Saturday 9th December 2023 at a brand new space Sri Balaganapathy Hall in Santhome, Chennai. On the inaugural day, December 15th 2023, several awards and recognitions will be conferred on legendary and senior artistes as well as upcoming dancers. ABHAI will be conferring the first "Pravasi Natya Kalanidhi" award on Rathna Kumar of Anjali Center for the Arts, Houston, USA. Dr. Padma Subrahmanyam will be doing the honours on that day. Day 1 opens with a vibrant and energetic Folk Dance performance of Tamilnadu comprising of Oyillattam, Thappattam, Silambattam, Karagattam etc by Friends Cultural Group from Chennai. Also, it's not every day that you get to watch and get inspired by performances of legends.
