October 25, 2023
TRIDHARA has been organizing the Guru Debaprasad Award ceremony
regularly for the last 16 years in remembrance of revered Guru
Debaprasad Das. This festival invites reputed artistes across the
country and abroad and also critics to disseminate outstanding outputs
at the world level through media.
This year, the 17th Guru Debaprasad Award Festival 2023 will be held
from 26th - 30th October 2023 at Rabindra Mandap, Bhubaneswar from
6.30pm onwards. The entry is free.
Guru Debaprasad Das will always be remembered for his role in the
revival of Odissi dance. The objective of organizing this award festival
is to confer the awards on legendary Gurus and artistes in the field of
dance and music and also showcase and promote Odissi dance, a gharana
of Guru Debaprasad taking to the essence of tribal and folk traditions.
The name of institute Tridhara is very apt since the three
streams of folk, tribal and traditional Odissi dances are amalgamated in
Guruji’s Gharana and they are frequently manifested in Guru Gajendra
Panda’s choreography, mirroring both the sensuous lasya aspect and the
dynamic tandava aspect.
This year the Guru Debaprasad Lifetime Achievement Award 2023 will be given to Jatin Das, legendary painter, sculptor and muralist. Guru Debaprasad Award 2023
