Since 2005 Art vision is organizing SANGAM Festival in Bhubaneswar in the month of September. The Festival is conceived as a confluence of two styles of dance sharing the stage in the same evening by presenting creative group choreographies. Along the years eminent dancers from all over India have shared their group works in the different styles of Bharatanatyam, Kathak, Mohiniattam, Kuchipudi and Contemporary dance.
For ART VISION, the Festival has been an occasion for presenting yearly a new choreography inspired by an arrays of themes such as Saraha (2007), Mahanadi..and the river flows (2008), Karuna (2010), Maana Bhanjana (2011), Kaala-Timebound (2012), Gaia-Mother Earth (2013), Siddhartha based on the homonymous book by Herman Hesse (2014), Akshara (2016), Refugee (2018), Meghadootam (2019) and Suta-The Thread (2021) among others. All the works have been composed by Art Vision director Dr. Ileana Citaristi and performed by Art Vision repertory group.
This year the Festival has reached the 18th edition and it is expected to be as exciting as ever. The guest group of the evening is going to be the Bharatanatyam troupe from Bangalore directed by Anuradha Vikranth presenting a work on the Nava Rasa attributed to Goddess Durga.
Art Vision is going to present an interesting piece called Duara Paka Nata (The story of the closed door) with reference to the verbal duet (bachanika) between Lord Jagannath and Goddess Lakshmi on the day of the Lord's return from Gundicha mandir during the famous Rath Yatra festival. The item is based on collection from traditional poems and musical tunes by different medieval Odia poets.
