Guru Usha Datar was awarded the SRINIVAS KULKARNI AWARD in Davangere for her contributions to dance, on January 15, 2017. Prof. CV Chandrasekhar received the NALANDA-BHARATA MUNI SAMMAN on January 14, 2017 at Mumbai during the Nalanda Nrityotsav. Bharata Kalanjali's founder Guru V.P. Dhananjayan received Alva's Education Foundation's VIRASAT AWARD 2016 on 13th January 2017 at Moodbidri, Dakshina Karnataka. The award comprises a citation and a cash award of rupees one lakh. Dancers Sathyanarayana Raju and Poornima Ashok from Bangalore, Sheela Sridhar from Mysore, received the KARNATAKA KALASHREE AWARD for 2016 from Karnataka Sangeetha Nrithya Academy on January 10, 2017 at Bangalore. Bala Devi Chandrashekar received the KALA RATNA AWARD from Kala Prakash, Varanasi, presented by Channulal Mishra, on Jan 8, 2017. On January 3, 2017 Music Academy, Chennai, conferred NATYA KALA ACHARYA on Malavika Sarukkai.
