In the field of Kathakali,
'Mali' Madhavan Nair earned a name for himself through his magnum opus
'Karnasapatham.' Written in 1966, the International Centre for Kathakali
(New Delhi) first staged it. 'Karnasapatham' is the only story of recent
origin to have earned this coveted stage recognition and is considered
to be on par with great classics like the 'Nalacharitam' of Unni Warrier.
Even during the author's lifetime, it saw more than 5000 stage performances.
