Ileana Citaristi presents
Lasya-Tandava workshops
May 4 - 6, Cambridge
May 18 - 20, Berlin

  Ileana Citaristi
Lasya-Tandava, the feminine and masculine in Indian dance

The workshop intends to analyse the different use of the body in the two styles of Odissi and Chhau which although belonging to the same cultural milieu utilize energy and space in a complementary way.

The basic stances of the two styles will be studied both in isolation and in comparison with each other with particular attention to the difference of energy generated in the execution. Starting from impulses, intentions and purposes at the base of each movement the study will research further ways of expansion of each of them culminating in the creation of an extended vocabulary to be employed for new creative works.

The workshop is for dancers with experience of at least two years in any style of classical Indian dance and for theatre workers who would like to experience new ways of physical expressions to be utilized for their stage work.

4 - 6 May, 3-7 PM
Trumpington Village hall, Cambridge

18 - 20 May, 12.30-16.30
Tanzfabrik, Studio 1, Berlin
