Not at all. The basics everywhere are the same. I have learned several different styles of Bharanatyam, each special in its own way. It is important to find and train with teachers who are open-minded. Upholding tradition is admirable, but each style has something special to offer. If you are switching to a guru of another school, he/she should be able to recognize the good things about your current style (i.e. what suits your body) and should not try to change that; they should simply enhance it with their style.
