I've heard the same. I heard that the Muslim invasions brought the dance styles of North India into Spain and from there Flamenco was developed. Not sure if it's true.

I think it is interesting how Flamenco dancers tend to draw energy in, they become like an energetic vortex of sorts, where Kathak dancers seems to disperse it. Does that make sense? There is something about Flamenco that harnessed dance energy to internalize it, creating that fire you speak of. Kathak is like open flames in the wind, Flamenco is like very hot coals when blown upon.
