K V Satyanarayana Sep 2001 K V Satyanarayana is a well-known Kuchipudi dancer, choreographer, lyricist, movie dance director and composer from India. He started the Sri Satya Kuchipudi and Janapada Nritya Academy in India to coach a stream of disciples in both classical and folk dances. He was a dance director for some acclaimed Indian movies such as Sruthilayalu, Swarnakamalam, Sutradharulu and Swathikiranam. In 1988, he won the prestigious Nandhi Award given by the Indian state of Andhra Pradesh, for choreography in the movie Sruthilayalu. In 1990, he won the Bharata Muni Award. He was honored with the title of Natyakavisarada and was offered "kanakabishekam" (a decoration of golden flowers on the head), his dancing feet were decorated with "gandapandaram" (golden anklets) and his wrists were decorated with "swarnakankanam" (golden bracelet). Since 1989, he has been touring the United States, giving performances and teaching at various places. He was appointed "asthana natyacharya" for the Sri Lakshmi Narayana temple of Youngstown, Ohio, and for the Sri Shiridi Sai Baba temple of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. He was felicitated by his holiness Sri Jayendra Saraswathi Swamiji and his holiness Sri Sankara Vijayendra Saraswathi Swamiji of Kanchi Kamakoti Peetam. His holiness Sri Ganapathi Sachithananda Swamiji blessed him with a golden chain (navaratnamala)and bracelet.
