three ashtapadi illustrated in Art, Dance and Literature

Art Vision started the celebrations of its 25th anniversary in the month of July with five series of online conversations titled Dance across Genres. In continuation with this year celebrations the second event ‘JAYADEVA’S GEETA GOVINDA: THREE ASHTAPADI ILLUSTRATED IN ART, DANCE AND LITERATURE’ is scheduled to take place on the 28th, 29th and 30th of October at 7pm (IST) in the virtual mode.
Each day an ashtapadi from the immortal poem will be explained by the Sanskrit scholar Dr Raghunath Panda, performed in Odissi style by Dr Ileana Citaristi, and illustrated through visual representations by Dr Alka Pande. Dr Arshiya Sethi will act as moderator and highlight the interconnection between the different artistic forms.
The three ashtapadi chosen are:
28th October: 11th song, Dhira samire Yamuna tire basati bane Banamali
29th October: 17th song, Yahi Madhava, Yahi Keshava mahavada kaitava vadam
30th October: 24th song, Kuru Yadunandana chandana sisira tarena karena payodhare
The event is organized by Art Vision in collaboration with India Habitat Center and Kri Foundation and is accessible on Zoom through a free registration and on the official FB page of Art Vision
