Kathak Abhijaat presents Kathak Residency with Guru Prerana Deshpande Nov 6-8, 2025 Auroville Apply by July 15  Kathak Abhijaat, the initiative led by Kathak dancer Swati Potulwar, is organizing a Kathak Residency the first of its kind in Tamil Nadu aimed at fostering deeper engagement with the Kathak tradition. The residency will bring together dancers, researchers, students, and connoisseurs in a space dedicated to intensive training, exploration, and artistic exchange. Event Name: Anubhav 2025 Dates: 6th to 8th Nov 2025 Venue: Adishakti Laboratory For Theatre Art and Research, Auroville Tamilnadu, India About the Residency: Set amidst the serene and inspiring surroundings of Auroville, Anubhav 2025 edition offers a rare opportunity to immerse in Kathak through a thoughtfully structured and holistic experience. With sessions curated by the renowned Guru Prerana Deshpande, the residency invites dancers to refine technique, enhance expression, and deepen their understanding of Kathaks classical grammar and aesthetics. What to expect: Early morning yoga sessions to awaken the body and calm the mind setting the tone for a focused and mindful day of dance. Immersive training and riyaaz sessions designed to deepen your engagement with Kathak technique while building a nuanced understanding of taal, laya, and rhythm through a blend of theory and practical application. Exploration of the expressive dimension of Kathak through bhaav and abhinaya sessions that delve into the emotional depth and narrative layers of storytelling. A concluding presentation by participants on the final day (November 8th) to showcase their learning journey and collective experience Open to: The residency is open to Kathak dancers at the intermediate (48 years of training) and advanced (8+ years of training) levels. Researchers interested in observing Kathak and its nuances are also welcome to apply. All applicants must be 15 years of age or older.
