janeni,
since i was the one, who vehemently said that nobody watches a abhinaya
based, or lenghty item,i am taking a little offence of your last sentence.
when i next perform, pls do come and judge, whether its ameturish or good.
i dont completely agree to what you say. on u tube, the bharatanatyam
pieces r not comeplete items. its a differetn senario to c something on
net and comment on it and hire a taxi, book a ticket, pay for the expenses
and sit thru a 2hr classical program. to say that all the 156 people who
commented on bharatanatyam in utube, are its fans,is quite debatable. considering,
how many of them actually go and watch a full length piece, let alone a
show or learn bharatanatyam, has to be found out. u tube, i dont know much
abt it, but as i perceive it, even i can put my video on it?if somebody
is not a padma subrahmaniam or a priyadarshini govind, doesnt mean one
is not a good dancer/ artist, and doesnt deserve to be respected and paid
etc. i hope you got my point. there can be many arguments against it. but
wait and think. iam talking arts- classical arts- as a profession as any
other.
thanx for your patience.
