Dear Raga,
I realize that there are ardent Western and Non-Indian Asian (Japanese
etc.)rasikas for Indian Arts. They also like the Art for its spirituality
and authenticity, apart from enjoying the visual geometry.
I know Bharatha has given enough scope for innovation in classical
Indian dance. But I have some general questions
1. Odissi for Mozart or the likes may be OK to watch a couple of times...
after that? is doing Odissi for the traditional accompaniment not as fetching?
2. Do Ballet dancers/other western classical performers try so hard
to adapt to eastern Classical Music. Ballet for Carnatic/Hindusthani Music
how well would it be received.Doesn't each form have its own beauty and
appropriate setting? Are we pushing the Indian Artists to their limits
to innovate in their quest for survival due to the lack of patrons?
