Kalakshetra produces some of the best dancers I have known, and seen performing. The neatness of their adavus, the strength in the hand movements, and the overall on-stage presence is something, I have noticed not in too many dancers today. I disagree with the fact that they put up "bad dance-dramas"...many dance schools that successfully organise dance-dramas use Kalakshetra's dance dramas as a template to work with. For an institution to be known as just 'another' whose alumni "turn dance-teaching into a high profit franchise operation" is really sad. As a dancer who was bred at Kalakshetra, and dances and teaches with a passion to preserve the tradition of the wonderful Institution, I am deeply saddened that someone as accomplished as yourself would think Kalakshetra was only that much.
